2012 Mervyn Robinson Perform Under Pressure Winners

Almost 20 photographers took to Fr Collins Park in Donaghmede to participate in the 2012 Mervyn Robinson Perform Under Pressure. The idea is quite simple - that everyone gets the same disposable camera and is given back their images to mount 24 on a single A1 board. The standard was high and we had both Michael O'Sullivan FIPF FRPS and Deirdre Gaffney LIPF on-hand to assist with the judging. The winner of the Best Panel was Rory O'Connor, photographed here receiving his prize from last year's winner Constanze. The best single image went to Colette O'Hora. Well done to both winners and all who participated.

Weekend Away in Ballinasloe

I thought it was a great weekend. Hopefully judging by the number of smiling faces around in Ballinasloe, I hope this means that you all did too!

I would really like to thank all those who helped with organising the weekend - Gerry (initial contact with hotel), Harry (ideas on activities),  Andrew / Dave and Lucy (aka the Events Team), and without whose efforts this weekend would not have been possible.

I was minded by something Paddy said to a few of us ... "it's great that everyone in the club is so open to sharing their knowledge". Therefore it is only right to thank Gerry (flash lighting course), Harry, Shay, and Peter to name but a few who were generous with their knowledge and their time this weekend.

Well done to all 30 for making it such a great weekend, especially the first-timers. Hopefully will encourage even more to go next year!   I will be sending a letter to the hotel as well to thank them for all they did.

For those who were unable to get down, you might get a good sense of the the weekend when I say that some were just turning into bed after 6 just before others were getting out of bed to go on a shoot at 7.

Finally can I ask that if you have images or videos of the weekend, can you please email images to me and I will discuss with you getting the videos. Oh, and to get the ball rolling, you might recognise some of the diners in this shot!

2nd Place in IPF National Shield

Hi all

More than a dozen of us were out in Ballyfermot at the IPF National Shield Inter-Club competition and we had the biggest smiles when it was announced that Malahide Camera Club were awarded 2ND BEST CLUB OVERALL this year. We achieved 2nd in Monochrome and 4th in the Colour !!   We finished just 7 points (less than 1%) behind Dundalk, who are currently holders of the World Cup for Camera Clubs.

This is a fantastic result for the Club and it did not happen by accident. The Selection Committee of Mark, Roisin, Patricia and Paul worked superbly well. They also had great support from you the members in submitting high quality images which were recognised by the committee of judges today.  The judges were fulsome in praise of our images and in particular great news for Andrew Tisdall who won the Bronze Medal for his image on the Monochrome panel. I have attached both the panels and the score sheets from today.

We'll mark this appropriately in the club over the next couple of weeks however the news is worth sharing immediately so that you can all raise a glass of your favourite tipple to celebrate a great team effort from the club.

Well done to you all and you should all take a bow !
