Malahide Camera Club was founded on September 28th 1995 in a venture initiated by Fingal County Council with the local community of Malahide.

AIMS
The Club's aims are
to promote photography through enjoyment,
to encourage basic skills and techniques
and to develop the creative potential of our members.
MEETINGS
The Club meets every Thursday night in The Grand Hotel, Malahide, Co. Dublin from September to June. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7.45 p.m. sharp. Meetings last about two hours. During July and August, Thursday evening outings are organised. Check the CALENDAR for details.
ACTIVITIES
The Club is affiliated to the Irish Photographic Federation and participates in all of its activities. Regular national activities include participation in The National Shield, The National Photographic Championships, The Print and Slide Competition and The Nature Competition.
The Club is also a member of the Fingal Photographic Association. Fingal County Council organises regular competitions and exhibitions as well as an International Festival of Photography every two years.
These two federations provide ample opportunities for photographic outlets and along with the regular weekly activities of the Club, members are kept very active.
Our CLUB DIRECTORY lists the guidelines we use for all Club activities.
Our ANNUAL REVIEWS and the Club Roll of Honour in the CLUB ACHIEVEMENTS PAGE give comprehensive details of all the activities that the Club has participated since its foundation in 1995.
ADVICE
Each month we offer a PHOTO TIP which is researched and written by a club member.
MALAHIDE
Being a Malahide based club, the village features affectionately in our concerns and activities. For the Millennium, we produced a book, "Malahide at the Millennium", in which we have sought to produce a photographic record of what life was like at that moment in time in Malahide. All the photographs were taken in the month of March 2000.
The photographs record the many and varied activities which reflect the way of life in this picturesque, seaside village as we entered the new Millennium. All life is there - business, leisure, education, religion, voluntary work, history, architecture, scenery and, of course, the heart of any village, the people themselves.
In years to come, this is how we will be remembered - a memory we can be proud of.
Our MALAHIDE PAGE features images of Malahide from the book.

The new committee for 2006 - 2007 consists of:

No matter what type of camera you use, from the simplest of compacts to the most expensive SLR or medium format camera, the impact and effectiveness of your shots will always depend on the viewpoint from which they were taken.

Tripods - Support your camera! PDF Print E-mail

To ensure your pictures are always pin-sharp it is vital to keep the camera steady while the image is recorded. That sounds like simple common sense but most people couldn't be bothered to lug a tripod along when they venture out to take a few snaps. It's for precisely that reason that they usually return with just that - snapshots!

Ever wondered how to get that feeling of movement into your shots? That car racing along, that horse sailing over a jump or speedboat skimming across the waves with the background streaked and blurred? Well all it takes is a little practice with a technique called Panning.

You photograph a beautiful sunset at the end of a perfect day.  Most people would pack up and go home, but you decide to stay a while.  Perhaps you will try to capture the moon rise or the sparkling of city lights or wait a while and photograph a beautiful star filled sky.  How do you do this?
