Perform under pressure competition - 12th May 2007, Howth. (Pictures: Patricia Ronan) Once again a bright May morning found club members gathered for our annual "Perform under Pressure" outing, on the banks of the Bloody Stream!
Having scrutinised our clue sheets we set off to unscramble the cryptic rhymes, and capture the image of the day. Swiftly St Brendan was found and soon we fell upon a fishy establishment shamelessly snappy scaly beauties! Foot fetishists had their moment when it was hard to tell a bunion from a barnacle, and King George was heard to turn in his grave!
One member, sporting enigmatic glasses, clearly used them to hypnotise the harbour seals and lure them into focus, while another couple, who might have known better, frolicked in the fishnets...a holy show! Amorous Scotties, musical gypsies, silver sails, gorgeous yachts, dreaming islands, a sturdy lighthouse, an azure clubhouse, hearts and crosses...all were snapped both carefully and casually. Had some of us forgotten that a competition lay ahead?
Finally we drifted past Sitric's "Eaton House" and some gleaming golf clubs and happily made our way to the cosy tavern for welcome coffees and lively post mortems. Our brilliant IT people downloaded our masterpieces and all could relax. A lovely morning was had so, many thanks to those who organised the event! (Now...how to assemble those panels...!!??) A Word in your ear...

The Clues: 1) If you're darting over to Howth to have a look around Stop off at the location Where blood was spilled on the ground 2) Although he seems to be travelling westward this Lonely boatman is going nowhere 3) If it swims in the sea And you fancy it for tea Then this is the right place to be 4) Although it's not the entrance to a church it's gothic nonetheless 5) King George IV left his mark here When he stepped ashore at the end of the west pier 6) While still here, take a shot of the lighthouse On the east pier 7) When sailors club together, they tend to congregate in this house. 8) At the entrance to the East Pier find an anchor, heart and cross closely intertwined. 9) Perhaps this is the window of Ireland's Soul? 10) Big yachts, little yachts, all a-tether Snap one singly or all together. 11 - 20) The next ten shots you're free to choose Be adventurous, you've nothing to lose. Feel free to wander where you will But do return to the bottom of the hill 21) This once king of Dublin would turn in his grave At how this establishment now spells his name Culinary delights await one inside But see what you can do with the drab outside 22) If you want to improve your driving Maybe Big Bertha can help Take your shot from here Either inside or out 23) Leaving the store you turn to your left For the 2nd last shot on your photo quest "With sails like these on your boat you'll always be in the doldrums!!" 24) Your task is now at an end, repair to the tavern and meet your friends. However don't forget to take your parting shot.
