Anyone who was not at the club last Thursday really missed out on a great evening. Our guest speaker, Ruth Kelly FIPF, was an inspiration to us all. She shared with us her "Journey " to the "F", which has taken just 3 short years. Not only was her work of outstanding quality but so was her presentation of it. Her enthusiasm was infectious and her personality engaging. No doubt an invaluable aspect of her character that helps her in getting the wonderful images she showed us on Thursday.
Her forte is people images, portraits and environmental. Ruth began by showing some of her early efforts and then moved through her "L", "A" and "F" panels, dicussing her changes in direction and style along the way. She spoke of the people and the stories behind them. Her "F" panel was of images she had taken in India and every one of them could grace the pages of National Geographic magazine. Ruth was accompanied by her daughter and able assistant, Mary-Kate, who featured in some of the images shown. Everyone enjoyed the talk immensely and we were still talking about it on Saturday at the Mervyn Robinson Perform Under Pressure Challenge in Ardgillan Demesne. A memorable evening for all. Peter Barriscale. |
