Here are the CLUB COMPETITION RULES for those taking part in the coming years competitions
CLUB COMPETITION RULES
The Club holds a number of competitions during the year with the
objective of improving the overall quality of photography within the club. For the purpose of club competitions
members are divided into 3 sections: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. New members to the club are required to
present a selection of their images (between 3 and 6) when they join in order
that they can be placed in the appropriate section. All members are assigned a membership number in the format
PXXX where XXX is their number.
Monthly Competitions:
There are 7 monthly competitions,
comprising 2 parts each month - a "Theme" and an "Open"
competition. A member may submit
up to 2 entries in each part (i.e. a member may enter up to 2 images for the
“Open” and up to 2 images for the “Theme” section). Images used in competition
must not have been previously used in any other monthly competition over the
years. Judges from outside the
club will score the entries out of 50 points. The following scoring guidelines
will be given to the judge for each part:

Novice / Intermediate / Advanced photographer of the year:
The Club runs a Photographer of the Year Competition for each section –
Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. This award goes to the photographer who has
the highest score from participating in the Monthly Competitions - a type of
League. Only the 5 best “theme” scores and the 5 best “open” scores from the 7
monthly competitions count for the award. (Only one score from each competition
part in a given month can be used). A member must retain at least one
monochrome, one colour print and one projected image
entry in each part of "Theme" and "Open" to be eligible for
Photographer of the Year. A member from the Intermediate or Novice Sections
must advance to the next appropriate section if he/she wins Photographer of the
Year.
