Increasing saturation in Photoshop using a saturation layer. An alternative method to the Hue/Saturation tool.

Increasing saturation in Photoshop is usually done using the Hue/Saturation tool, but there are other methods which may achieve better results. Here is one which uses a saturation layer.

Step 1:
Open your image in Photoshop.

Step 2:
Right Click on the background layer

Step 3:
Click on "Duplicate Layer"

Step 4:
Name your new layer

Step 5:
Change Layer Mode to "Overlay"

You will see that your image becomes highly saturated, probably way too much.

Step 6:
Change the opacity of your new layer.

Play around with the opacity of the saturation layer until you're happy with the result.

That's all...
